Mafia is an online realtime text-based implementation [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mafia_%28party_game%29 of the popular game].

Unfortunatly, this wiki, painstakingly written by myself in December and the first half of January (with the help of Lazygamer and a few others), was entirely lost when my server's hard drive went to hell very suddenly and unexpectedly last week. Because it was so recent, there were no backups yet. This is a tremendous loss, and I definitely do not want to keep working on the Mafia project until we recover from it.

This is where you, the community, can help. There are many people who like Mafia and there were several dozens of active players before the start of Mafia 4.0 development. I ask you all to put your Mafia knowledge to a good use and rebuild this wiki the way wikis are meant to be built: Everyone together. As soon as the wiki is reasonably complete again, we can restart Mafia and Mafia development. '''Note'''

* Do not use wikicodes based on how they LOOK, but on what they MEAN! Mark titles as titles, not as bold text. Use things the way they're meant to be used even if you don't like the way they look.

* [[The Flash Client]]
* Write clean text that makes sense, from a neutral perspective. Incomplete random text will not count towards wiki completion (and therefore to reopen Mafia) until it is properly structured and formatted. If you need help, ask other Mafia players or one of the moderators to help you!

* '''Do not compete''' against other editors; If a page is already being worked on, work together with the other editor(s), or in another part of the page, or look for another page and write that one instead.

* Please '''do not write the individual role pages just yet.''' First of all write the pages linked to from this one, in the Accessing Mafia, How to play and Reference sections (you don't need to touch the others). You can cross-link these to each other as necessary (the way the former Wiki had them). When we're done with all these, we can write the specific role pages.

Mafia is an online realtime text-based implementation of the popular game.

First created in 2006, version 4.3 is the latest version. There are currently 16 playable roles, plus 6 extra roles which are played simultaneously with a player's base role, as well as many other features. Mafia can be accessed from multiple IRC servers through gateways, played on the web using the Flash client or via a telnet client like PuTTY.

Parts of this wiki were created by players. You may find inaccurate or conflicting data sometimes! If you see anything wrong and wish to help, register an account and ask Protected for contributor access.
