Description
Default role This role is never explicitly assigned; All players start as Citizens but most of them are assigned different roles in the end of the Joining Round. However, the game will not start if there isn't at least one Citizen. Also, when a role retrieval skill (such as Detective investigation) fails, it will return Citizen by default.
Start as Freemason Game with a Freemason Lodge In the beginning of a game, the cumulative role of Freemason is always assigned to Citizens or to the Village Idiot.

Guidelines

  • Stay Alert

The Vanilla Citizen's sole power lies in voting. He has no other commands or channels to juggle, so he is in the best position - out of all other roles in the game - to observe and influence players during the night round. This is a luxury that other Innocent-aligned roles cannot afford.

Losing focus of the flow of a game negates this advantage, as the Citizen will not know who to vote for. This can take skill, especially in larger games, or those with a well-played Village Idiot.

  • Support the Public Detective

A crucial but often-overlooked aspect of the Citizen role is his ability to vocally support the Public Detective in his investigations and narrows. This is pivotal in larger games, where the Detective requires crowd control to fulfill his role. An alert, vocal Citizen can turn the round in favor of his faction.

  • Use !revive as a Freemason Citizen

Though the Revive ritual has less chance of succeeding than the Curse ritual, it is also less likely to cost the player the game should they target the wrong person. Setting the ritual to revive also deprives lurking Village Idiot Masons from using it after having their Freemason Citizen counterparts murdered.

Once players have a feel for Mafia and its community, they can attempt Freemason Citizen curses with less risk to their faction.

  • !Stop as last resort for the Mayor Citizen

Citizens lucky enough to be elected Mayor should only use !stop if the Innocents faction is outnumbered and the coming afternoon is a deciding voting round, as this command will cost them the office.
